Halloween is just around the corner which means parties and trick-or-treaters are going to be in your home! Dirty carpets can scare your guests away, but don’t let it! Here are a couple of ideas to get your Halloween party started off right!

1. Spook up your front door! Have you ever thought of stringing orange Halloween lights on your front porch? This gives a fun, festive look to your front door decor! Hay stalks and pumpkins are a great, inexpensive way to decorate your front door too! Get a fun Halloween door mat to put at your front door! This will help reduce the dirt and dust that is being tracked into your home. Ask your guests to remove their shoes as well.

painting pumpkins2. Paint your pumpkins! Are you tired of carving pumpkins? Or do you have littles in your home? Paint you pumpkins this year for a new twist! Acrylic paint is inexpensive and they designs are endless! Glitter and stencils can add even more dimension and fun to your pumpkins!

3. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe. You’ll need a treat for your family and friends as they stop by to show off their costumes. Don’t let this recipe scare you, it is super easy. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

You will need:

  • {1} box of spice cake mix
  • {1} 15 oz can of pumpkin
  • {1} 12 oz bag of chocolate chips

Combine all ingredients into a large bowl and mix together by hand or with a mixer. Use a non stick pan and place 1 1/2″ dough balls onto the cookie sheet. Bake for 18-20 minutes. *May require extra baking time if center is still gooey!

These cookies are delicious and are so simple to make. You will want to make them for every occasion. They are good for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and every chilly day in between!

4. Spidery Craft. It may be a bit chilly on Halloween night, so bring your little ones in to make a craft!

You will need:

  • Black paper plates
  • White yarn
  • Plastic fake spiders
  • Tape
  • A hole punch

These items can all be found at the dollar store. The first step is to take the plate and punch holes in the edge, about 1 to 2 inches apart. Then, cut a piece of yarn about 2 or 3 feet long. Tap one end of the yarn to the back of the plate. Now, thread the yarn in and out, though all the holes. Make a pattern that looks like a spider’s web. Lastly, take your fake spiders and strategically place them into your web! This craft is easy for all and even little ones can participate. Get kid’s motor skills running, while having a little Halloween fun! All of these ideas can get your party started off right. They can even keep your kiddos away from all that candy!
